Frequently asked questions

What's the exact head size for a Dutch passport photo?

Face length (chin to crown) must be 26mm to 30mm for anyone 11 or older — tighter than the 32–36mm range used by Germany, France, and most other ICAO-standard countries, and there's a separate, wider range for children under 11.

Can I wear glasses in a Dutch passport photo?

No — the Netherlands does not permit glasses in passport or ID photos, in line with the ICAO biometric standard adopted when biometric passports were introduced.

What background colours are accepted for a Dutch passport photo?

Light grey, light blue, or white are all accepted, as long as the background is a single flat colour with no gradient or texture.
