Can I take my own French passport photo at home?
No — France requires identity photos to be taken by an authorised professional photographer or an approved photo booth system certified by the Ministry of the Interior. A home-printed photo is rejected regardless of how well it matches the size and background rules.
Can I use a white background for a French passport photo?
No — French regulation explicitly forbids a white background for identity photos; use light blue or light grey instead.
What's the head size requirement for a French passport photo?
32mm to 36mm from the bottom of the chin to the top of the head, excluding hair — the same ICAO-based range used across most EU/Schengen photo standards.
