- For related documents that do require a physical photo, the reference size is 35mm × 45mm (3.5 × 4.5 cm), following the ICAO standard.
- Background must be plain white.
- Glasses are strictly prohibited.
- Attend your appointment with your head uncovered, hair pulled back, and no accessories that hide your facial features — the in-person photo is taken there.

Do I need to bring a printed photo for a Mexican passport application?
Usually not — since 2018, SRE captures the photo digitally on-site during your appointment. Having a compliant backup photo can still help for related consular paperwork or visa applications.
What size photo should I have ready as a backup for Mexican consular processes?
35×45mm (3.5×4.5cm), the standard ICAO reference size SRE and Mexican consulates use as a fallback for documents that do require a physical print.
Can I wear glasses to my Mexican passport appointment photo?
No — glasses are strictly prohibited in the photo, and you're asked to arrive with your head uncovered and hair pulled back so your features are fully visible.
