Frequently asked questions

Does an Irish passport photo need to be in colour?

Colour photos are accepted, though black-and-white is also common since the photo is printed into the passport in black and white regardless of the colour of the original submission.

Can I wear glasses in an Irish passport photo?

Yes, provided the frames don't cover any part of your eyes and there's no glare on the lenses. Dark or tinted glasses are not permitted.

What's the size range for an Irish passport photo?

Between 35×45mm (minimum) and 38×50mm (maximum) — Ireland accepts a small range rather than one fixed size, unlike most other ICAO-standard countries.
