Frequently asked questions

Can I wear glasses in a Belgian passport photo?

No. Belgium enforces a strict no-glasses rule, including for prescription lenses. Take them off for the photo rather than risking a rejection over glare or frames crossing the eyes.

Does a Belgian passport photo have to be on a white background?

Not strictly white. Belgium accepts any plain light background — white, cream, light grey, or very light blue all qualify. What matters is that it's uniform, with no shadow, gradient, or pattern.

How much of a Belgian passport photo should my head fill?

31mm to 36mm from chin to crown on the 45mm-tall photo. Your neck and the upper part of your shoulders also need to be visible, so a tight face-only crop will be rejected even if the head measurement is right.
